Iconology - the Teaching about the Inner Man Online Lectures with Vladislav Andrejev May-June, 2021 The Prosopon School is pleased to offer a series of lectures by founder and master iconographer Vladislav Andrejev. The series will explore the foundations of iconology and can be viewed as an iconological catechesis. In the narrowest sense of the word, iconology is the study and interpretation of visual imagery and symbolism. According to Andrejev, it is possible to see the incarnation of the Logos, in man's inner being and in human culture, as an icon. Iconology holds the key to the discernment of the various degrees of this presence of the Logos — and to clarifying the hierarchy of stages which bring man closer to Him.
While iconology is of special interest to students of iconography, it also offers a fresh perspective to those who have never held a paint brush but who have eyes to see. The specific approach of Andrejev’s teaching is to reveal the intrinsic connections between actual everyday life and our most deeply held Christian beliefs. The lectures are appropriate for all students of the Prosopon School, as well as anyone interested in the intersection of art and faith. For description and registration click
